Dear Ryan's parents,
It is always a joy to see and teach Ryan. He is such a respectful, hard working student and a very intelligent, thoughtful boy. He worked hard once again today.
I am working with Ryan on becoming a strong 'independent' learner - skills that will empower him with knowledge, tools, strategies, and confidence, to independently find 'answers' on his own, without adult assistance. Ryan is a very smart boy and in time, he will achieve this empowered 'learning' achievement. You can do it, Ryan!
For today's lesson, we reviewed Ryan's anchor charts and we also covered Lesson 5 - Task 1 - In Class - Literature Book.
We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms
3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension
4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational Text)
5) Cause and Effect
