Dear Brian's parents,

Brian had a very good English language lesson today. His reading is significantly improving as is his vocabulary knowledge. He is beginning to comprehend the main idea and key details in a story and to communicate them in a developing and overall successful manner. Keep up your great English language learning, Brian!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Brian's Anchor Chart binder and we covered Lesson 29- Task 1 - U4L10 - In Class - Teach a Dog.

We focused on the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key/New vocabulary - translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: fluency, decoding, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Nonfiction

5) Text Feature: table of contents (author, title, subtitles, chapters, pages, and sometimes illustrator)

6) Sequence
