Phonics--or, oar, ore--say the sounds and read the lists of words and the sentence for fluency

Read "The Story of a Robot Inventor" and discuss for sequencing and understanding

Ask Jason what kind of robot he would like to invent to make connections

Discuss Problem and Solution--explain and read the example from the text for understanding

Read the example of steps in problem solving and find examples in the story for fluency and understanding

Read Norm's narrative--have Jason find and read the time-order words for fluency and understanding

Explain comparative adjectives and have Jason read the example sentence for understanding, then tell what Norm is comparing in his narrative

Have Jason say some other examples of comparative adjectives--e.g. smarter, smartest, slower, slowest for fluency and understanding
