Review "A Lost Button" with Jason; have him retell the story in his own words for comprehension and sequencing

Have Jason answer the Text Evidence questions for point of view and genre (fantasy) and explain fantasy. How do you know this is a fantasy story?

Have Jason name the ways Toad describes his button for recall

Explain non-fiction, have Jason explain it for understanding, then start reading the "Sort it Out" activities with Jason

Read each section with Jason and emphasize "alike" and "different" for understanding

Have Jason describe different ways objects and animals can be sorted--colour, shape, features, pattern, etc.

Have Jason sort objects and animals in each section in different ways--have him name the way or ways he is sorting for fluency and understanding
