It was nice to see Frances again today in class. She had a more difficult lesson and I am not sure how much of the class she was listening to as she was not in the camera. Frances did read some of the phonics lesson but I know she can actually read a lot more than she did today. Please speak to her about being attentive in class and not playing with toys or reading books (I have had to ask her in several lessons to put her Monkey King book away). Frances is a very bright and delightful student and with better attention in class I am sure she would advance a lot with her English reading.

It was nice to see Frances in class today. Frances was very reluctant to read in class. The text was fairly simple and I am sure she could have read it independently. Frances participated a bit, and I hope she will continue to participate more each lesson. Frances spent a lot of the lesson looking at a book on her desk and she may need to clear her work space before each lesson for better attention. 

She did help to identify and label some of the pictures for her homework activity.

Frances did well in her first lesson today. She did want to show me many toys but with redirection she  was able to return to her lesson tasks. Frances can be a reluctant reader at times and will answer "I don't know" when I am pretty sure she does. I will continue to look for new ways to motivate Frances in class and keep her engaged for the full 40 minutes.

What are some of Frances' interests? Are there any favorite movie characters or book characters I could include in the slides to keep her interested? I have found a 'reward slide' at the end of the lesson that we add to throughout (a click for great reading participation adds another piece of the puzzle picture) is very effective in keeping the younger learners motivated.

Frances began with the new unit vocabulary today and I have forwarded the slides for her to review. I also included an introduction to nouns. We will continue to study nouns in future classes.
