Dear Brian's parents,

It is always nice to see Brian and I am so proud of how well he is using his translation device throughout the lesson. He is showing excellent growth towards 'independence' with his English language learning. He is also using his Anchor Chart binder with a high degree of effectiveness. Wonderful!

Thank you very much Brian's mother and father, for providing Brian with your positive encouragement and support in this important development. It is helping him so much with his language learning.

Brian's parents, I would like to ask you please, for our next step in Brian's language learning, that he is provided with an 'interactive' method of communication during our lessons.

It is very important for Brian to communiciate his knowledge and to demonstrate his knowledge, in class. The only method he currently has is 'verbal' and this method is too challenging for him and very ineffective. We spend so much time for him to put his thoughts in order and then find the words to communicate his thoughts plus I am 'guessing' at what he is trying to communicate. In one hour, we are spending a great deal of time trying to communicate and understand each other. He has not developed the vocabulary nor the literacy concepts enough to effectively communicate or demonstrate his knowledge.

During our lessons, it would be very beneficial for Brian's learning, to now interact with me through our lessons, using one or more of the following methods of communiciation and demonstration:

1) Type his responses on the lesson screen

2) Touchscreen his responses on the lesson screen

3) Have a mouse that can manipulate text on the lesson screen

4) Any other method which provides effective interactive abilities for Brian to communicate and demonstrate his knowledge, would be very much welcomed.

Thank you so much for your continued positive encouragement and support of Brian's English language learning.

For today's lesson (May.13th). We reviewed Brian's homework as well as worked on Lesson 10, Task 1 - U2L10 - May 13 - How Maps Help (Grammar)

We covered the following literacy concepts:

* Irregular Plural Nouns

Brian's parents: to help Brian develop the independence and proactive skills to translate new words on his own, can he be provided with a translation device and/or a translation website please; which he can use at home (for his homework) and for in-class activities. Thank you so very much!

p.s.: he can write his new words, with the Chinese translations, into his notebook or right into his Wonders books.

p.s.s.: multiple-meaning words (homonyms) such as 'bat-bat' can be tricky at this stage of Brian's language learning process. I will be teaching him about homonyms in class, however I also would like to ask for your support in helping him choose the correct meaning of any homonyms he is translating, as per the context of the text he is working on.

Thank you so much for your support.

Dear Brian's mother,

I do apologize once again for the confusion during Brian's lesson yesterday, on Fri.Mar.04th. Please don't worry about the English game 'Blooket'. I was frustrated with it because I know Brian would enjoy it very much but I will wait until Brian becomes more independent with his English and Brian and I can play it in the future, on our own, no problem. There are other simple games that Brian and I can play now and which you don't have to worry about helping Brian with (they will be much easier for him and more fun).

Your continued wonderful help with Brian's English language learning ONLY, will be so very much appreciated (you must be so relieved, NO MORE BLOOKET for you, lol!). I look forward to the make up lesson at the end of this current term.

We will read the story from yesterday's lesson (Lesson 2 - U2L2 - Task 1 - Ben brings the mail) next Friday (Mar.11th). Next Friday will be a READING lesson for Brian, for your information. Thank you.

I look forward to our next lesson on Friday. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you.

p.s.: For our next lesson (Fri.Mar.4th) I would like to play Blooket with Brian, as a reward for his hard work in class. It was unfortunate that Blooket did not work today for some reason. I asked for help from Mrs. Ling Song and her daughter. They were very helpful and I have a better idea now how Blooket works for students in China. I believe Mrs. Song will be contacting you soon to see if Blooket can be played on your internet system (something to do with an Internet Firewall). Hopefully we can play it together next week as his reward for his very hard work! Thank you once again.

Have a wonderful weekend to the whole family.

Very best regards,

Mr. Grande
