Dear Marquis' parents,
It was so nice to see Marquis again after my Christmas holiday. Marquis seems to be enjoying his own Winter Break. He explained all the things that have been happening during his Winter Break such as firework displays, scenic spots, and shopping malls. He also explained about his own activities during this time such as his piano practice for a competition as well as his little brother's English language learning experience. Today, Marquis used conversational English with strong effect and accuracy. Very well done, Marquis!
For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 23 - Task 1 - U2L10 - Jan 02 - The Long Walk.
We covered the following literacy concepts:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key / New vocabulary
3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, decoding, fluency, and comprehension
4) Point of View Review: author and narrator
5) Similes
6) Literary Elements: alliteration and rhyme
7) Text Feature: Table of Contents (title, subtitles, author, illustrator, chapters, pages)
