Dear Michael's parents,

Today, Michael was so happy that he did not have to do homework (lol!) but he was more happy about his holiday and seeing the parrots at the zoo. Wonderful!

Michael had a great lesson today and he worked very hard, as usual. 

For today's lesson, we reviewed his anchor charts and we covered Lesson 2 - Task 1 - U1L2 - In Class - Duck's Discovery.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, pronunciation, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Fantasy

5) Text Features: table of contents and illustrations

6) Character Chart: wants or needs, feelings, actions, traits

7) Synonyms: words/phrases
