For today's English language lesson, Chloe worked very hard, especially with her comprehension and fluency skills while reading. Her understanding of vocabulary has significantly increased since the time I first worked with her. Wow! Wonderful! She is such an intelligent and energetic girl and a true joy to teach. For today's lesson, we reviewed Chloe's Anchor Chart binder and we also covered Lesson 11 - Task 1 - U3L8 - In Class - Weather All Around.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, inflection, intonation, pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational)

5) Antonyms and Synonyms

6) Text Features: table of contents, pictures (photographs), captions, maps glossary, index, title, subtitles, special print, diagrams, and labels
