Dear Michael's parents,

It was so nice to see Michael again! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's challenging Weekly test. We worked on his test-taking skills:

1) Identifying key vocabulary in the question, answer, and text.

2) Understanding the important curriculum concepts learned in the unit: example - 'similes'

3) Remembering to include 'text evidence' when answering questions in writing (question 21).

We also reviewed the following:

1) Genres: Fiction, Nonfiction, and Informational text

2) Summarize Chart: Sequence (first, next, then, last)

3) Compound Words

He did very well today and he was engaged throughout the lesson. Michael is such a smart boy and a joy to teach.
