Dear Michael's parents,

Today's lesson was focused on Michael's test-taking strategies for Multiple-choice and Written answers. It was a challenging lesson for Michael but he did well, overall.

I would strongly suggest that Michael reviews ALL the homework and tests that I evaluate and assess. I always include corrections and comments for improvement that Michael will highly benefit from in his English language learning. Michael is repeating errors in his homework, which our lessons together are not enough for him to remember and correct. He needs to review his error corrections from the evaluated and assessed homework that I submit to you. I would suggest that you also print out the evaluated and assessed homework that I submit to you and keep them in a separate binder from his Anchor Chart binder, which Michael can refer to when needed. Thank you so much for your amazing support with Michael's English language learning.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's weekly test homework as well as covered Lesson 8 - Task 1 - U5L6 - In Class - Rudy Garcia-Tolson.

We focused on the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key/New vocabulary - translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, fluency, decoding, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Biography

5) Text Features: special print (color, highlighted, bold), title, subtitles, captions, and photographs

6) Synonyms

7) Sequence Summary (beginning, middle, and end)

8) Test-taking strategies: key vocabulary, context clues, sequence, topic and concluding sentences, and proper citing of text evidence.
