1. When Brutes decided to burn down another Finca, Adoni traced their steps and caught up to them just before they got to the forest. She managed to catch the leader of the group, which we can assume is Dain.

2. Teera forces Reina to shoot Treowe as her test to see who exactly Reina is loyal to: Her friends or her grandmother. This is a test of choosing. The Matriarch is forcing Reina to choose between Treowe or Teera. Teera must've seen Reina and Trewoe, or else the Matriarch probably would've put Dain in the test (which I'm sure everybody will probably not miss him).

3. He means to use Tre's sacrifice as a boost to the Matriarch position. Matriarch is a powerful position, and Tre's sacrifice will increase the amount of trust that the Matriarch has in Reina, increasing the chance of getting the Matriarch position.

4. Tre knew he would die anyway, so he chose to use his death as a way to help Reina so Gentles and Brutes alike can have better lives in Nede.

5. The dress represents Reina herself. For example, the muted colors of turquoise, orange, and yellow hint at Reina's relationship with the Matriarch. The riding boots signify Reina's love for horses and that she isn't like the Matriarch, who prefers fanciness.

6. Just about everything in the anthem is a lie, so Reina can't help but feel that she's been lied to. For example, 'Brutes are no more'. This proved to be a lie since we know that Brutes do exist. Jase and Rohan are living proof.

7. I admit that I was a bit surprised, even if I didn't show it. However, as I kept reading, I could understand the Matriarch's reason for not choosing Reina. Yes, I expected that Reina would be chosen, but I knew at the back of my mind that if this were a series, than there must be some sort of plot twist to the story, or else it would only be one book and not a series. If I didn't know this, I would be much more surprised.

8. When the Matriarch went to Reina's room to pick up the dagger that Reina was given from Rohan, she discovered the book in the room. Now that Reina knows, Matriarch Teera knows that Reina cannot be chosen, as she has shown herself to not be trusted in the Matriarch's eyes.

9. I think Reina sent Neechi to Bella Terra so he wouldn't be targeted by the Matriarch, basically saying that she wants to keep the Gentle safe, as he did nothing to deserve the cruelty of Nede.

10. Reina thinks that if most of the Alexia still care about the Virtues, then joining them might increase the chance for Nede to undo its wrongs.

1. Adoni had recently captured a Brute with 'red hair'.

2. Teera forces Reina to shoot Treowe, which I must say is downright cruel.

3. He means to use Tre's sacrifice as a boost to the Matriarch position. Matriarch is a powerful position, and Tre's sacrifice will give her a large boost that will increase her chances of becoming the Matriarch.

4. Tre knew he would die anyway, so he chose to use his death as a chance to help males have a better life than now.

5. I think it is the time that was taken to make the said dress, and the fact that it represents what destinies Reina will most likely have, like Alexia or Matriarch.

6. Just about everything in the anthem is a lie, so Reina can't help but feel that she's been lied to. For example, 'Brutes are no more'. This proved to be a lie since we know that Brutes do exist. Jase and Rohan are living proof.

1. I would say that he is strict yet fair person. He is someone who takes justice seriously. For example, instead of killing Reina or keeping her at Tree Camp forever, he let her go back to her mother's finca with a small condition. Torvus also let the other Brutes decide wether they wanted to go to Dain's side or stay at his.

2. I don't think so. From what I've read, the future doesn't end up too bad. Reina gets the destiny of Alexia, which might be a good position to still make a difference in Nede.

3. Reina understands both of the advantages and disadvantages of being a Gentle or a Brute, but she feels that either option will linger on her mind for the rest of her life. Guilt on your shoulders can sometimes be hard to bear. At least, that's what I think.

4. Somehow, Torvus and Leda are related, in a way. I am suspecting that they both might be Jase's parents.

5. It may have been caused by a vampire bat that had some sort of disease. If Callisto showed any signs, she would have to be killed.

6. It has been confirmed. Leda is Jase's MOTHER.

7. The day before, an Alexia had come to the finca and informed Leda that Reina was missing, so she went to search for her. He hadn't returned yet.

8. The secret that Jonalyn tells is something that we already know: Leda is somehow associated with Brutes.

9. Reina's judgement has been changed from the Brutes, and she is beginning to doubt if Gentles were born Gentles or not.

10. The toucan represents the Matriarch herself. The toucan's vivid colors represent the Matriarch's robe, and its eating habits represent how Matriarch Teera is slowly taking control of everyone on Nede.

2. Personally, I don't know. It depends on what happens in the future, and I did not get enough information to decide on my opinion.

6. Reina finally realizes. Jase knows Leda. They are related somehow, even if we don't know how.

9. Reina's judgement has been changed from the Brutes, and she is beginning to doubt if Gentles were born Gentles or not.

10. I think it symbolizes joy, happiness and freedom, like the Matriarch's robe might symbolize, but in truth, the Matriarch is the exact opposite of what a toucan represents.

1. I think that Adoni whispered what the test was, which is why Jamara attempted to kill Bri during training.

2. I would say yes because Jamara did have a dagger in her hand and was ready to kill Bri. You don't usually point a dagger at someone's chest unless you want to kill them.

3. A dichotomy is when two opposite things are fused together into one thing. In this case, 'the fusion of strength and beauty'.

4. I think there are two reasons for that: one, there were two certain Gentles that managed to convince the Matriarch to let Callisto ride in the arena, and two, I think the Matriarch seems to have a little bit of favouritism in Reina.

5. She learned from both Adoni and Solomon. Adoni inspired Reina to learn to ride, while Solomon helped and gave tips.

6. Adoni knows that having an Alexia-friendly Matriarch means more advantages for the Alexia, which is why Adoni lets Reina train with Trinidad.

7. In the beginning of the book, it's found out that Reina is tired of living in a simple, rural life. She wants to have a more exciting, Alexia life. But when she is put into the Succession, the things she sees there change her. She suddenly misses her old home.

8. The meaning of 'both more and less' is literal. They've become more, with their numbers expanding, finer horses, becoming stronger, etc. But, they've also become less. They are more obedient, less reliable, etc.

9. They had good intentions, basically wanting to heal her and give her shelter for the night.

10. They are both the same age, somewhere around the age of seven. However, the little Brutes aren't very organized, unlike the Gentles. The Brutes mostly travel in a group, while Gentles travel in a line, which gives an example on how free they both are. Gentles are destined for work. While Brutes also have work, they are treated as normal citizens instead of servants.

2. Yes and no. I think that the Matriarch ordered Jamara to kill her opponent, which might have not necessarily been Bri.

6. Trinidad told Adoni that having a 'skilled, savvy, Alexia-friendly Matriarch' would bring its advantages, which Adoni understands.

1. She thinks that Reina is going to eliminate her chances of Matriarch.

2. Their numbers changed greatly (there was one fifth of the Alexia before), they became more disciplined, skilled, and affinited. They even got finer horses.

3. It's used to train Gentles (like a school) for their future years as servants to Nede.

4. I can't really explain it, but it's like she's a person that would take pity on slaves, except the Gentles are the slaves. Like, she thinks it's right and wrong at the same time.

5. Nari somewhat reacts the same way Reina does. She does start to do this test, but hesitates. She ended up not doing the test in pity.

6. It is true history, America actually exists. And isn't that Tristan Pierce's Journal?

7. It's the story of how Tristan saved women from the hands of the brutes, thus becoming the first matriarch. At least, that's what the public thinks. The truth is something much more frightening.

8. In the beginning, she was planning not to win, suggesting that she didn't want to win. But now, she is determined to win so Nede won't get even more corrupted by Teera.

9. While women are usually treated, the Gentles are just left to die. Also, the Clinic is only a waiting room with too many chairs. (And I mean it)

10. Ciela says that Jonalyn might have been attacked by Brutes. Since this isn't something that happens everyday, and Reina encountered two of them before, this unlocks a new fear. But will it last?

1. She falls off her horse after being distracted by something (Also known as Brutes). Two Brutes help her. That would explain the muscles. However, they definitely aren't from this region.

2. Gentle but sharp, he's very hard-working. I don't really know what else to say but him being smart. He basically tends to the house, like tending the garden, cleaning the horses, etc.

3. While her mother and sisters are well-mannered and respectful, Reina is rebellious and ambitious in a way. Hard-cored, Reina would rather be one of the Alexia then be a Materno, like her mother and sister.

4. The Alexia is the army that protects Nede from threats, inside or out.

5. They are said to have the hardest job out of all destinies: Enduring preg nan cy, raising children, and giving birth.

6. When Solomon was dismissed from his duties for tending the Alexia's horses, Leda offered him a vacation. I think she just wanted Solomon to have a happy ending.

7. Curiosity, a bit frightful, excited.

8. She saw the qualities of a Matriarch in Reina, making her a worthy candidate. At least, that's in her veiw, anyway. Or could she be lying?

9. Reina's mother is very kind and easy-going, while Reina's grandmother is strict and mighty. While Reina's mother doesn't mind her coldness and can be gentle, Reina's grandmother expects the best of Reina. She must follow the circumstances. This is expected as a candidate of the Matriarch role, also being the current Matriarch's granddaughter.

10. Reina's sister's place was attacked, Jonalyn (the sister) was hurt badly.
