4. Gimli, since he actually started crying-
5. His goals and motives were not evil,even if his actions were wrong. He had a desire to protect, and he believed that if he had the One Ring and overthrew Sauron, he would use the Ring to rule with peace, security, wisdom, and generosity. And the Ring was literally corrupting him at that time-

7. The Gates mark the nourthern border of Gondor, and I think maybe it relates since decline means to not welcome (or something) and the statues aren't exactly welcoming enemies-
