Dear Jeff's parents,

Jeff was fully engaged in today's lesson as we learned about volcanoes and how they shape and impact our Earth. We used video support to enrich Jeff's learning and his knowledge acquisition, and he enjoyed that aspect of the lesson. Well done today, Jeff.

For today's lesson, we covered Lesson 7 - Task 1 - U1L7 - In Class - Into the Volcano.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Narrative Nonfiction and Biography

5) Academic Discussion: The direct human impact of volcanoes, over time.
