Dear Summer and Summer's parents,

Summer was very active and engaged throughout today's Language lesson. It was a very interesting lesson for Summer as it described the many important aspects of water in our lives especially the importance of ice cores for historical data about our changing atmosphere, over time.

Another excellent lesson today Summer, well done!

For today's lesson, we covered Lesson 11 - Task 1 - U5L8 - In Class - Secrets of the Ice.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, fluency, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text

5) Text Features: diagrams, labels, photographs, and captions

6) Scientific Questions: about data related to atmospheric processes in nature

7) Research strategies
