Dear Summer's parents,

My apologies for the late NOTE. I must have forgotten so I am very sorry.

Summer had a great lesson on Monday and he was focused and engaged throughtout the class. Wonderful! Thank you for speaking with him after last week's challenging lesson.

Summer is such an intelligent and strong student so it is surprising when he is a challenge to teach. He is usually an absolute joy to teach so Monday's lesson (Apr.15th) was the return of super Summer, the amazing student, lol! Thank you once again for speaking with him.

For Monday's lesson, we reviewed Summer's homework and we also covered Lesson 1 - Task 1 - U5L1 - In Class - Figure It Out.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Realistic Fiction
