Dear Summer and Summer's parents,

Summer had another excellent Language lesson today. We covered many new Grammar concepts and he was able to communicate accuracy of understanding after each mini-lesson. He did great!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Summer's homework and we also covered Lesson 13 - Task 1 - U5L9 - In Class - Treasures from the Past.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, fluency, and comprehension

4) Genre: Informational Text

5) Text Features: illustrations, photographs, captions, graphs, and maps

6) Maps: compass rose, cardinal directions, north pole, south pole, intermediate directions

7) Expressions: proverbs, adages, and idioms
