Dear Summer and Summer's parents,

Summer was in very good spirits today and he is looking forward to his Summer vacation! We talked about finishing off the school year strong and then spending a lot of time playing with his friends...he liked the idea of playing with his friends, lol!

He had another strong Language lesson today. Well done, Summer!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Summer's homework and we also covered Lesson 10 - Task 1 - U5L7 - In Class - Take a Closer Look.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text

5) Printing strategies: letter structure accuracy

6) Mind Map / Idea Web: 'My Close-Up Knowledge'

7) Research strategies: effective question formation (specifics and details) and wording
