Dear Chloe's parents,

Chloe had a VERY difficult time focusing and engaging in the lesson today. She was VERY distracted by something she was watching on her computer. I had to prompt Chloe MULTIPLE times to focus and engage in the lesson. It was a VERY frustrating lesson for me to teach Chloe, which was very surprising. Usually, she is focused, engaged, and enjoys the lesson but not today. 

Everyone has an off day so hopefully today's lesson was Chloe's off day.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Chloe's homework and her anchor charts. We also covered Lesson 4 - Task 1 - U1L3 - In Class - The Dream Catcher.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Realistic Fiction

5) Visualization: descriptive vocabulary (adjectives, adverbs, word choice, and sensory words

6) Sequence of Story Events

7) Context Clues: to help define words we don't know in the story
