Dear Chloe's parents,

Chloe worked very hard throughout today's lesson. She understands that if she does poorly with her homework or in class, my expectation is that she will need to focus, engage, and work extra hard during her lessons and with her next homework assignment. We also don't play a game reward at the end of class if she doesn't work hard with her homework or during class. She understands this.

Chloe's such a smart girl, as you know, therefore my expectations for her English language learning success, are quite high. I know yours are as well. You can do it, Chloe!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Chloe's homework and her anchor charts. We also covered Lesson 11 - Task 1 - U1L8 - In Class - The Amazing Benjamin Franklin.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Biography

5) Text Features: table of contents, glossary, index, diagrams, labels, illustrations, photographs, captions, special print, timelines
