Dear Marquis' parents,
I always look forward to the English language introduction Marquis reads to me before the beginning each lesson. Today's introduction was about Dr. Norman Bethune. Marquis read so well, with clear articulation and enunciation, plus significant detail of Dr. Bethune's importance in helping the people of China during a very difficult time in Chinese history. Very well done, Marquis, and thank you for teaching me so much about what is important to you, to your family, and to the Chinese people. Wonderful!
For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 19 - Task 1 - U2L6 - Nov 28 - The Race for the Presidency.
We covered the following literacy concepts:
1) Pre-reading strategies: text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key / New vocabulary
3) Reading strategies: Articulation & Enunciation, Decoding, Rereading, Fluency, and Comprehension
4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational)
5) Author's Point of View
6) Prefixes: 're-' = again
7) Spelling: focus on a clearer distinction between the uppercase and lowercase 'L'
