Dear Marquis' parents,

Marquis was so excited to tell me all about the family's visit to his mother's friend's farm, this past week. He went into great depth and detail regarding the animals he saw, and the vegetables and herbs that are grown there. His conversational English is stellar! It is always a joy to converse with Marquis.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework plus covered Lesson 28 - Task 1 - U4L9 - In Class - You Inspire Me.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Poetry

5) Mind Map / Idea Web (Graphic Organizer): 'Who Inspires Me and Why?'
