Dear Marquis' parents,

It is wonderful to hear that Marquis is doing such high-level 'Speech' presentations in your district. He is such an accomplished and brave boy, my goodness! I wish him very good fortune with his speeches. 

For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 20 - Task 1 - U4L4 - In Class - A Chef in the Family.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, inflection, intonation, pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Realistic Fiction

5) Affixes: prefix and suffix (un-comfort-able / im-pass-able)

6) Root Words: 'comfort' / 'pass'

7) Author and Narrator Points of View

8) Context Clues
