Anran had another excellent English language lesson today. She once again worked hard throughout the lesson and participated very well.

We also talked about Anran's homework assignments. Anran is doing the Extra Homework and not doing the Homework Assignments. She says she now understands that she must do the Homework Assignments first and if she would like to do the Extra Homework, she can do it second. It's good extra practice for her.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Anran's Extra Homework as well as her anchor chart binder. We also covered  Lesson 26 - Task 1 - U2L8 - In Class - Animal Families.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, fluency, punctuation intonation, and comprehension

4) Genre: Nonfiction (Informational Text)

5) Text Features: pictures (illustrations & photographs), special print (highlighted, big text, small text, italics, bold print), glossary, index, table of contents (title[heading] , author, illustrator[sometimes], chapters, chapter subtitles[subheading], chapter pages, glossary, index)
