Dear James' parents,

I am finding that James is becoming less and less engaged during our lessons. I was worried about this and spoke Ms. Ling Song today. We had a very productive discussion and developed some optional fun curriculum that may be more joyful and engaging for James. Ms. Ling will be contacting you to discuss these optional curriculum ideas with you. Hopefully you will find these ideas acceptable in helping James reengage with his lessons and to find joy in learning once again. Thank you for all you do for James. He is a dear, sweet boy. I hope we can all help him once again find happiness in learning. Thank you. 

For today's lesson, we reviewed James' homework and we also covered Lesson 11 - Task 1 - U4L1 - In Class - Our World, Our Life.

We focused on the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key/New vocabulary - translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: fluency, decoding, and comprehension

4) Genre: Informational Text

5) Compound Words
