Dear Michael's parents,

It is always very nice to see Michael. He is such a smart boy and a joy to teach.

(It is NOT a joy to play games with him because Michael always beats me and makes me cry! LOL!).

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. Plus we covered Lesson 16 - Task 1 - U4L1 - Our Life, Our World.  

We focused on the following literacy concepts:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key/New vocabulary

3) Reading strategies: Articulation & Enunciation, Fluency, Decoding, and Comprehension

4) Genre: Expository/Informational Text and Poetry (lines & stanzas)

5) Text Features: Special Print, Illustrations, Maps, Keys, Compass Rose

6) Combining Simple Sentences (commas and conjunctions: and, but, or, so)
