Dear Brian's parents,

Although he needed consistent encouragement, Brian did well overall throughout today's lesson. He was a bit disengaged and unfocused (which is normal during the Summer holiday) but he did try his best. 

For today's lesson, we reviewed Brian's Anchor Charts and covered Lesson 17 - Task 1 - U6L2 - In Class - What a Feast!  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding vocabulary, text features, punctuation intonation, and comprehension

4) Genre: Fantasy and Nonfiction

5) Story Theme

6) Text Feature: Table of Contents (title, author, chapters, subtitles, pages, and sometimes - illustrator)

7) Mind Map / Idea Web: 'I Am a Helper!
