Dear Summer's parents,

Summer had a very good lesson today. He was a little distracted by other activities on his computer, however, when prompted, he quickly refocused on the lesson. When Summer was focused on the lesson, he was engaged and successful in his learning. Keep working on your lesson focus and engagement, Summer, thank you.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Summer's excellent weekly test homework and we also covered Lesson 26 - Task 1 - U4L8 - In Class - Stargazing.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: context clues, text features, fluency, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text

5) Context Clues: sentence clues and paragraph clues - helps us understand the meaning of unfamiliar words, phrases, and concepts

6) Cause and Effect: in our daily lives

7) Ancient Times: in relation to space
