Dear Summer's parents,

It was very nice to see Summer in good spirits. However, he was distracted by what he was doing on his computer most of the lesson but his spirits were better so that is good to see. We were able to accomplish much of what I planned for Summer this evening. Keep up the good work, Summer!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Summer's homework as well as utilized his anchor charts to support his learning. We also covered most of Lesson 2 - Task 1 - U3L2 - In Class - Not From Around Here.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: definitions and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Fantasy and Legend (Folktales)

5) Points of View: author, narrator, and character

6) Spelling Success strategies

7) Learning Success strategies: utilization of learning support materials provided by his teachers: textbooks, handouts, worksheets, anchor charts, etc.
