Dear Siyuan and Siyuan's parents,
For today's lesson (Jun.21st), we covered some challenging Grammar concepts that Siyuan worked hard to understand.
We reviewed Siyuan's two submitted Grammar homework assignments:
1) Lesson 3 - Task 2 - U1L2 - Homework - Grammar Review
2) Lesson 5 - Task 1 - U1L4 - Homework - Grammar Review
We covered the following components:
1) Sentences: simple, compound, and complex
2) Run-On Sentences and Sentence fragments
3) Punctuation marks: periods, commas, and semi-colons
4) Simple and Compound Subjects (Nouns)
5) Simple and Compound Predicates (Verbs)
By the end of the lesson, Siyuan had a better understanding of these concepts however they are still challenging for him. I will continue to reinforce these Grammar concepts in Siyuan's future lessons.
Please Note: Siyuan had difficulty focusing during his lesson today because he was doing another unrelated activity on his computer. This inattention significantly interferes with his learning of these very important Grammar concepts that he will need for success in Grade 7.
My recommendations for Siyuan are to focus on the lesson, take his time, think carefully about what the instructions are asking of him, and focus on the Grammar concept(s) he is being asked to work on.
Once he has done this careful 'thinking' process, then he can 'communicate' and 'apply' the knowledge learned, during class and for his homework, and do so with a higher degree of success.
Thank you.
