Dear Marquis' parents,

It was really great to see Marquis today and to hear all about his fantastic Chinese New Year holiday, in his family's hometown. Wow, it was such an amazing holiday! A big thank you to Marquis' mother for showing me all the wonderful pictures and videos of the family's holiday. Amazing!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework plus covered some of  Lesson 7 - Task 1 - U1L5 - In Class - To the Rescue.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translation, definition, and synonym

3) Reading strategies: decoding, context clue, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text

5) Root Words and Affixes: prefix and suffix (un-comfort-able / im-pass-able)

6) Conversational Practice
