Tiffany had another strong English language lesson today. Her vocabulary knowledge is expanding and growing wonderfully as well as her understanding of text features and their purpose. Keep up your great English language learning, Tiffany!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Tiffany's homework as well as her Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 8 - Task 1 - U2L6 - In Class - Saving San Francisco Bay.

We focused on the following literacy concepts:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key/New vocabulary - translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: decoding, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Narrative Nonfiction

5) Text Feature: special print (color, highlighted, bold), title, subtitles, captions, photographs, illustrations, graphs, table of contents (author, title, subtitles, chapters, pages, and sometimes illustrator), glossary, and index.
