Dear Marquis' parents,

Today, Marquis had a wonderful introductory narrative about the Chinese New Year traditions in his family. It was so lovely to hear all that his family does for this holiday and all the different festivities that take place. It was wonderful to listen to and to discuss. Great job, Marquis!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Marquis' homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 2 - Task 1 - U3L2 - In Class - King of the Birds.  

We covered the following literacy concepts:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, decoding, fluency, and comprehension

4) Genre: Folktale

5) Problem and Solution Graphic Organizer (Chart)
