Dear Evan's parents,
It was very nice to see Evan today. He worked very hard to process information and think deeply about his answers to my questions or the questions from today's exercises. He must be tired, poor boy!
I noticed today that Evan struggled with key vocabulary that he did not understand. When I used the Chinese translation of these key words, his understanding increased significantly.
I would highly recommend that Evan has access to a Translator during his lessons, for words he does not understand. This will significantly benefit his learning. Thank you.
For today's lesson, we reviewed Evan's homework submission as well as some of Lesson 14 - Task 1 - U2L4 - Your Turn.
We focused on the following literacy concepts:
1) Theme of a Story
2) Key/New vocabulary - Comprehension
3) Reading strategies: Fluency, Comprehension, and Key Vocabulary / Context Clues
4) Genre: Historical Fiction
5) Complex Sentences
6) Sentence Starters
