Dear Brian's parents,
Brian was very excited today when sharing his first day of school. He clearly is ready to better learn the English language and to do well overall this school year and I know he will. You can do it, Brian!
Also, to help Brian do well this school year, I would encourage that he completes his homework consistently, every week, to the best of his ability. Thank you.
For today's lesson, we reviewed Brian's homework as well as his anchor charts. We also covered Lesson 22 - Task 1 - U6L5 - In Class - Snow Day!
We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms
3) Reading strategies: articulation, enunciation, pace, intonation, inflection, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension
4) Genre: Realistic Fiction
5) Phonics: silent letters (wr, kn, gn)
