Dear Brian's parents,

Brian had a very good lesson today. He was quite conversant, which is great to see, and he shared much about many of his school experiences. I am so happy to hear that Brian is making friends at school and that he is beginning to feel more comfortable at school, overall. That's wonderful news.

For today's lesson, we reviewed Brian's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 8 - Task 1 - U5L6 - In Class - The Wright Brothers.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Key / New vocabulary: translation, definition, and synonym

2) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, intonation, inflection, pace, fluency, text features, and comprehension

3) Genre: Biography

4) Problem and Solution strategies

5) Text Features: table of contents, picture, photograph, and captions

6) Reading Genres

7) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identificaton, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
