Dear parents,
It was so nice to see your children again after the long holiday break. Throughout today's lesson, your children were all actively participating and engaged; motivated to succeed in their learning; and they tried their very best, which is all we can ask of them. They are all a joy to teach.
For today's lesson, we reviewed some of the homework they submitted over the holiday break. We also reviewed their Anchor Chart binders. Finally, we worked on Lesson 7 - Task 1 - U3L7 - Abe's Honest Words.
We focused on the following literacy concepts:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key/New vocabulary - synonyms and definitions
3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, fluency, decoding, and comprehension
4) Genre: Biography
5) Point of View: Narrator and Author
***Unfortunately, we could not cover suffixes and prefixes today because they did not have the Anchor Charts I sent them.
Dear parents: can you please print out all the Anchor Charts you are sent, place them in plastic page protectors (for longevity), and then into their Anchor Chart binders. We will use the binders every class and the Anchor Charts are valuable knowledge keepers for your children's continual reference, knowledge reinforcement, and overall learning success.
Thank you so very much for your acitve participation in your child's learning success.
