Dear Michael's parents,

It was so nice to see Michael today especially after my holiday and after the family's big move to your new home. Michael loves his new big bedroom, lol, which is great! Exciting times!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework and his anchor chart binder. We also covered Lesson 4 - Task 1 - U1L3 - In Class - The Dream Catcher.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Realistic Fiction

5) Mind Map / Idea Web: 'My Chinese Traditions'

6) Visualization: descriptive vocabulary (verbs+adverbs and nouns+adjectives) 

7) Sequence (Order of Events): 'beginning, middle, end' and 'first, next, then, last'

8) Context Clues: synonyms
