Dear Michael's parents,

It is always so nice to see Michael. He had another strong English language lesson. I will continue to encourage Michael to speak in full sentences and to use strong detail in his answers. Nonetheless, well done today, Michael (except when he beat me at the English vocabulary game, 'Hangman'! LOL)!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his anchor charts. We also covered Lesson 29 - Task 1 - U6L10 - In Class - A Fantastic Day.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: pace, fluency, pronunciation, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Fiction

5) Text Features: Table of Contents (title, author, illustrator, chapters, pages, subtitles) and Pictures (photographs and illustrations)

6) Figurative Language: similes and metaphors

7) Speaking in Full Sentences with strong Detail
