Dear Michael's parents,

Michael had another wonderful English language lesson today. As always, he worked hard and he was very active in his learning. Michael is such a joy to teach!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 22 - Task 1 - U6L5 - In Class - Dive Team.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translation, definition, and synonym

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational)

5) Greek and Latin Roots - Affixes: prefixes and suffixes (un-comfort-able / im-pass-able)

6) Mind Map / Idea Web: 'Teamwork'

7) Text Features: map, key, title, labels, diagram, photos, caption, and special print (bold and highlighted text)
