Dear Michael's parents,

Michael had an excellent lesson today. He was very active and engaged in his learning. He worked hard to find the answers to many of my challenging questions regarding English language literacy. He did great! 

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 20 - Task 1 - U6L4 - In Class - Wind Power.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translation, definition, and synonym

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension

4) Genre: Informational Text

5) Text Features: table of contents, glossary, index, diagram, labels, illustration, photograph, captions, and special print (bold, text size, color)

6) Paragraph Clues = Context Clues = Sentence Clues

7) Author's Point of View
