Dear Michael's parents,
It was so nice to see Michael again. He told me about his wonderful holiday and it sounds like he had a great time, especially eating food from the BBQ, lol! I am very happy he (and I'm sure the whole family and his friends) had a really super time on holiday. Welcome back!
For today's lesson, Michael worked very hard. We reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 19 - Task 1 - U6L3 - In Class - Pedal Power.
We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key / New vocabulary: translation, definition, and synonym
3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, inflection, intonation, pace, fluency, decoding, context clues, text features, and comprehension
4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational)
5) Mind Map / Idea Web: 'What Energy Sources Do You Use?'
6) Text Features: pictures (illustration and photograph), diagram, label, subtitle, special print (highlight, bold, big, color)
7) Neatness: use a ruler or other 'tracing' tool
8) Punctuation: periods and commas
