Dear Michael's parents,

Michael had another wonderful English language lesson today. He is doing so well with his learning and it is really great to see his progress. His homework submissions are being completed at a higher level of knowledge comprehension and accuracy, as well. Wow! Keep up your awesome, hard work Michael!

For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 16 - Task 1 - U6L1 - In Class - Why Fir Tree Keeps His Leaves.  

We covered the following literacy concepts and strategies:

1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections

2) Key / New vocabulary: translations, definitions, and synonyms

3) Reading strategies: articulation & enunciation, fluency, decoding, context clue, text features, and comprehension

4) Genres: Myth and Poetry

5) Elements of Poetry: stanza, line, and rhyme scheme/pattern
