Dear Michael's parents,
Michael once again worked very hard during today's English language lesson. His ability to communicate his thoughts, his listening skills and comprehension, his ability to retrieve the knowledge required to answer questions with accuracy, are all improving so very much. I am very proud of Michael's English language progress. He is doing great with his learning!
For today's lesson, we reviewed Michael's homework as well as his Anchor Chart binder. We also covered Lesson 13 - Task 1 - U5L9 - In Class - Visiting the Past.
We focused on the following literacy concepts and strategies:
1) Pre-reading strategies: prediction, identification, text-to-self and text-to-world connections
2) Key/New vocabulary - translations, definitions, and synonyms
3) Reading strategies: context clues, fluency, decoding, text features, and comprehension
4) Genre: Expository Text (Informational Text)
5) Text Features: illustrations, photographs, and captions.
6) Homonyms (multiple-meaning words)
7) Cause and Effect 'Rules' Chart
