Dear Marquis' parents,
Marquis had another fully engaged and focused lesson today. We reviewed Marquis' Lesson 12 - Apr 11 - Week 4 Test. and we covered the following test-taking strategies and literacy concepts:
1) Dictionary Usage - Marquis must understand the test questions and all the KEY vocabulary in the questions and also in the answer choices (Multiple-Choice).
2) We reviewed the four Word Types that challenged him on the test: homophones, homonyms, synonyms, and antonyms (all these Word Types were introduced to Marquis with VIPKid - fyi - we used the 'Vocabulary' Anchor Chart that I sent last week, thank you).
3) We covered Homonyms further in Lesson 13, Task 1 - U5L9 - Apr 18 - 'Visiting the Past'

For next week's (Apr.25th) Lesson Plan, I propose to teach the following lesson:
Lesson 14, Task 2 - U5L10 - Apr 25 - Grammar
[HW: Lesson 14, Task 1 - U5L10 - Apr 25 - 'Government Rules' - On-Level Reading (p. 2-14 ONLY)]

After Marquis' Weekly Test 'diagnostic' review and during today's lesson, I believe it best that I reduce the multitude of challenging literacy concepts during a lesson to 1-2 concepts per class, rather than 2-3 concepts per class.
I believe covering too many challenging literacy concepts can be overwhelming for Marquis' English language learning.
Increasing the lesson time spent with less challenging and familiar literacy concepts into our lessons would help build Marquis' confidence with his English language knowledge and abilities plus it will further reinforce his English language knowledge in a more effective and time extended manner.
I hope that this change in teaching/learning strategy is acceptable to you. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

My very best regards are with you all, as always,
Mr. Grande
