Frances did an excellent job today in class.

We focused on the reading the colour words but she did read some parts of the story book as well. Frances completed all activities and participated very well.

Thank you,

Ms. Katie.

Cynthia did a great job in class today. She seemed a bit nervous to have a writing class but she had great ideas and seemed to have fun once we got started. In her creative writing class Cynthia will often be asked to do a 'timed writing.' I will give her a topic and she can write on this topic in a given time limit. This is a chance for Cynthia to write freely not worrying about spelling and punctuation errors. She will always read her timed writing to me so I am only listening for ideas. Cynthia showed a good understanding of paragraph structure and she did very well discussisng this with me.

Great work from Cynthia today.

Thank you and Happy Writing!

Ms. Katie.

James did an excellent job with his reading today. I corrected his pronunciation of the short /i/ sound in 'cricket' and he improved a lot throughout the lesson. I noticed in James' sentences this week that he was having some trouble with subject - verb agreement in his sentences and we reviewed this as well. He was able to use the correct form of the verb in the simple present tense (The mosquitoes fly / The mosquito flies) during this activity. We also reviewed the use of the 'be' verb in both the past and present forms (is, are, was, were).

Excellent work from James today in class.

Thanks,

Ms. Katie.

Hello,

It was great to see Frances in class. She had her camera on and was very attentive today. She participated well throughout the lesson. Frances read parts of our book 'Bath Time For Biscuit." I called her attention to the sight words in the story and she was able to read some of them. At times Frances is reluctant to read on her own and I will encourage her to try as much as possible each lesson. I have enjoyed her recorded readings and hear that when she is comfortable reading with her mom she works very hard to read independently. I would like to see that same confidence in class. Thank you and see you next week Francis.

Cynthia did an excellent job in class today. She easily read the lesson story and completed all reading activities on her own. Cynthia was able to have a discussion about zoo animals and which is her favorite. She was able to ask and answer many discussion questions. Cynthia had prepared a DIego Diary about her family and it was very well written with excellent punctuation. Thanks for your hard work in class Cynthia.

It was great to see James today in class. He did very well with his reading of today's story. James was able to read most of the story on his own and only struggled with the words 'recipe' 'teaspoon' and 'check.' He can continue to practice these words to prepare for his own reading of the story. James continued to practice  the long /a/ vowel sound and he worked to sort words with both the long and short vowel sounds. Excellent work from James today in class. Thank you, Ms. Katie.

Hello,

It was nice to have Frances in class today to read, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Frances was able to read the familiar words and read other parts of the story with assistance. Today, Frances did not have her camera on and I encourage her to have it on during class time. She was clearly distracted with another activity and this made finishing all of the activities difficult. I look forward to her reading of the story.

Thank you, Ms. Katie.

James did an excellent job in class today. He read the whole story independently. He needed very few pronuncation corrections.

James was able to read all words in the lesson with the 'tr' and 'br' blends. He did very well relating the story to his own experiences at a zoo.

Thank you,

Ms. Katie.

It was great to see Frances in class today. She participated very well in her reading lesson. Francis was able to identify words based on their first letter and she did a great job using the correct sight word to complete sentences about the story.

I hope she can practice reading and writing her sight words this week. She can pick five words to practice each day.

Thank you,

Ms. Katie
